Good Work is Hard Work

Updated: Apr 19, 2022

Hello!

I'm currently having one of those mornings where I solely lack the motivation to get up and get going. Anybody else experiencing that?

We all just have one of those days where we don't have the energy to do anything - and that's totally okay. I call those self-care days. Days where we just want to veg-out with a cup of hot-choccy in front of the TV screen. (If you're having one of those days today I'll be adding a list of my top shows to-watch-right-now below!)

But if it's not one of those self-care days how to we alleviate ourselves from the spell of laziness?

1) Meditation - finding a short morning meditation that suits you can set the tone of your day.

2) (Believe it or not) Make your bed! - I'm not even a mother and I've said this to people before.

Making your bed is the first mission of your day. If you complete the first mission, you can complete all the others. Also, who doesn't love coming back to a well-made bed?

"If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed... If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another." - William H. McRaven.

3) Do some exercise - even with keeping in mind that our days are full, it's still important to put even a short while aside to wake up your muscles and work up a sweat. Exercising reduces the body's level of stress hormones and releases a hormone called endorphins (a natural pain-relieving hormone aka. Happy Hormone :))

4) Talk to someone that makes you happy.

I'm sure that we all have more than one person that makes us happy whether it's a parent, a grandparent, a friend, a partner, but there's always that one person who just knows what to say. They know exactly what you need to hear. So give that person a call. Let them know that you need a pick-me-up.

5) Put effort into a meal. Now I know this one may seem a bit less important to some but I can guarantee that the sense of pride after working hard to put together a delicious, nutritious and attractive meal is priceless. There's nothing like that sense of accomplishment and a bonus - you're fueling your body!

6) List! Listing gives you the opportunity to lay out what tasks you have and organize them accordingly. Once you see all these tasks on a piece of paper they suddenly become a whole lot easier to achieve. Marking off task after task will show you just how capable you are and ensure you to continue until the end of the list.

7) Lastly but most importantly, reward yourself at the end of your day. There's noting like knowing that hard work has paid off - you're one step closer to achieving your goal, you finished all your tasks and you succeeded to maintain a good energy throughout the day.

Thanks for reading!
